July 25-04
  • Well things in life are crazy and always changing. The most recent change was my withdrawal from the production Nefertiti. It was not something I wanted to do, but something I felt I needed to(many details I wont post here). On a positive note I will now be coming to NYC this weekend!! I will leave DC directly after my last Improv acting class and travel straight up to NYC and be there by 10 oclock! on saturday. Crazy times.

  • Mini Update: I had the shoot today and it went great! it was alot of fun and I felt like I did a good job, the director and production group all seemed very pleased with my preformance and the director even gave me his card and told me to call or e-mail him and he'd get my headshot into the hands of some good people when I get up to NYC. So that of course was very cool. Just a good day overall : )

July 20-04

  • I booked the Secret Service - Department of Education job! It shoots tomorrow in DC! I got the call on saturday from my agent at Satchi. I missed a call from her yestarday before I woke up and when I saw she had called but not left a message I assumed the worse.... and you know what they say about assuming. So when I called her back and she told me I had gotten the part I auditioned for I was more then thrilled! The shoot is just a half day but it will be a great exeprience, some extra money and look great on my resume! On a down side, I got a speeding ticket two nights, but I wont let that get me down : ) I just gotta watch the gas pedal a bit more.  Also today I had rehearsal for Nefertitie which is shaping up to be alot of fun! The tour bus came by today so we could get a peak at it before we left and man is it nice! Its a brand new charter bus with tables in side and a mini kitcken... its very cool and much more then I expected. Things always come in a mixed bag, good and bad. I am focusing on the good right now!
July 16-04
  • Right now I am hanging out... waiting to hear back from a drop off I did for extra work on a Campbells soup commericial (normally I dont think anything of drop offs but I know the shoot is happening monday (the 19th) and they needed 6 fit young guys who can play soccer ASAP) so I am hoping ot hear from them by the end of the day, if not oh well :). Also I audtioned for an industrial for the Secret Service and Department of Education at Satchi today. That shoot is tuesday, and I got a good feeling from the director so hopefully I'll get a call here by the end of the day as well. So, nothing really NEW, just the stress of being an actor..... constant rejection is tough.... I just gotta put it out of my mind.
July 13-04
  • O.k so the week started off with my getting sick... I think strep throat, so I am on antibotics for that. Then I get rearended in my car, so thats an issue I have to deal with before I leave for Georgia, so its been a tough week. However! on an upnote, I got a gmail account! So I have a new better e-mail account then my old hotmail address. The New address is robertalbrecht@gmail.com, my old hotmail account will stay open but I perfer all of my new info to go straight over to the google address. Thats all for now. Cheers

  • Well stress has been a close friend to me over the last couple days (having a hard time selling my car, money issues, etc etc). But on an upnote I did get offered a part in the production Nefertiti that I auditioned for a few days ago! After MUCH inner struggling I decided that although the play will push back my arrive in NYC by two weeks I am still going to be a part of it! So! rehearsals start this week, we will be leaving for Georgia on the 26th of july and returning to DC on Aug 14th (very quick production). This tentatively puts me in NYC on the 15th. The part pays reasonably well and is my 1st paying theatre role. It should be a great learning experience! Wish me luck!

July 2-04
  • O.k well, several diffrent things have happened since my last post (Thanks Antonio ;) I guess the first thing to cover was the day on the set for The Wire, like I said it was my second time working on that set and it went pretty well, I was a uniformed police officer (looked like a rookie :) but it went off without a snap, I only did two sweeps though (where you just walk in front of the camera and its not clear who you are) One of the actors on the set got upgraded though so that was fun to watch and see how it worked, hes been working for some 15 years I think he said so it was cool that he got upgraded, his lines were basically improv but still. Other than that the big thing in the last week was my trip to NYC. I saw my apartment for the first time and bought a bed, a bookcase and some other odds and ends... took the bus to IKEA from port authority... interesting! I missed the bus going back so I had to wait another two hours for the next one (I killed time in Toys R Us) and then the second bus was 40 minutes late! anyway, the trip went well I guess. I got alot of stuff in order, and an odd thing, on the way home (washington deluxe bus ride 20$) I was seated next to another actor. We talked a bit and when I asked him for advice it was mostly stuff I had heard before, but also he said not to read "guides about acting in NYC" as I had been on the bus, and to make my own path. I understand some of that thought, but still I gained alot on insight from that book. Oh well :) Anyway, now I am just trying to sell my car and get up to NYC with some money in my bank account. Once I get up there its JOB search time and then on with mailings, auditions etc etc etc : ) Also gotta make some new friends up there too.... which I am not always great at doing. O.k this is a long post... i will end it now :) Thanks for hanging in there and reading it all. Peace

  • WOW what a day - 1st the day started when I headed to my IBM print modeling job... there I get upgraded from extra to principle (a raise of 850 bucks, oh yea!) First part of the great day. Then they pull me to do a DIFFRENT AD (hand model for a billboard in SAN FRAN off of 101) the pay for that is still up in the air. But another great thing, and it doesn't stop there! So then on the advice of some fellow actors at the shoot I called a local agent I had worked with a couple weeks back to thank him for arranging my background work on the HBO series The Wire and to let him know that although I was moving I still wanted to be kept in mind for roles in the area especially if they could land me a waiver. (so I could get closer to joining sag )and  on the SPOT he was nice enough to arranged for me to work on The WIRE again but in a union slot so this time I will be getting a voucher and getting SAG pay! VERY COOL. Now I only need two more!  anyway it was just a GREAT GREAT GREAT day...
I really feel like things are coming together!
i'll be in NYC the 28-30th to get stuff ready for my move in aug!
June 18-04
  • Good news, I got picked for a print job with IBM! I am not one of the principles in the shoot but I will still get good exposure and a decent pay check : ) Maybe one of the principles wont show up and I will get an on the spot promotion. I got this job through my most recent agent relationship. Central Casting. The shoot is on monday and I believe its an atheletic theme, soccer or some such activity. :) I'm happy, IBM BABY! :)
June 14-04
  • I called back to Central Casting after One Oclock the day after the audition (these were their directions) and they told me that they wanted to sign me! They also mentioned that they wanted me to continue taking classes, which of course is never easy to HEAR, but something I already knew. So I took the constructive criticism relatively well and am looking forward to working with them! They are based in DC and Balitmore so hopefully I will be able to get some work from them before I head out in August. I also registared for my next class at the DC Improv club. Its 6 weeks long and starts saturday the 19th and finishes the day before I leave for the city, perfect timing! The class is only 180 dollars which from my experience so far is very cheap. The class is an improv comedy course, I am really looking foward to working on my comedic skills.
June 09-04
  • I had an audition today with Central Casting. I got there a little after 5:30 (driving directions are NEVER right!) and did not have a partner for the cold reading, a friend I knew there said she would go through again with me. I think I did well, I was in my military BDU's though so I am not sure how that went over. Overall I think I did well, they told us to call back tomorrow after 1 for more information and such. Good vibes about this one.
June 05-04
  • Wow, within a week I wrapped up both my show at the Kennedy Center (what an awesome experience) and I finished my On Camera Training class with Brenna! I almost didn't know what to do with myself. This sense of free time was enjoyed until I remember I was moving to NYC in less than two months and have alot of money to save up! So currently I am working one full and two part time jobs plus my national guard duty of one weekend a month (coming up next weekend) Just gotta focus on paying off my bills before I hit the city.
May 18-04
  • I got a call today at 11:16 waking me up (i know, its great to sleep in) from the WB tv channel! I sent in an audition tape about a week ago for one of their new reality quiz shows and they told me I was a finalist and that they really liked my video! They asked me some trival questions (I think I did pretty well) and told me that they would be in contact if I am picked... it was a very exciting phone call! I think it would be alot of fun to be on a reality tv show, the concept is kinda hush hush but all I know about it for sure is that shooting would take one week in NYC and some type of quiz would be involved. Keeping my fingers crossed for this one!
May 15-04
  • The Move to NY is one step closer to completion. My future roommate found the place we are staying at, its extremely small but has an excellent location. (good job buddy!) The place is in the upper west side off of broadway. I'm excited and really looking forward to calling the Big Apple home.
May 10-04
  • I have a non singing role in the Washington Operas  "A Streetcar Named Desire". It doesn't pay well and it has taken a big commitment but the experience is fantastic! I play a couple different "roles" but the most significant is that I am the solider that Blanche embraces with on stage while I am shirtless. Its quite a scene! The performances are May 15th - June 2nd at the Kennedy Center.
