The
meeting with Tobe Gibson was a success! She
offered me a contract; I've read it over - did some research and
decided to sign with her! I go in Monday after the holiday to sign the
papers and start the ball rolling. She has represented
some very large clients so I am looking forward to see where this
goes. Also today I worked the live Host - Promo job - it went
well - it’s on my resume now under InsideTV for fusebox/tv guide. I am
heading home tomorrow for thanksgiving, I'll be back in the City sunday
evening.
Nov 21-04
- I got a call
today from a mailing I
did this past Tuesday. I sent out to the NYC Shows (I think it was 5
packages, because one of the casting directors casts for all of the Law
and Orders) and one package to a personal manager Tobe Gibson. A friend
of mine referred me to her and she called tonight! We set up an
appointment for tomorrow at 6:45! so I am excited about that! We will
see how it goes. I also have an audition for a corporate promo job
tomorrow which pays well! Big day overall.
Nov 2-04
- Filming for
the student projects has
wrapped. I should have a copy of each film in a few weeks. Dropped off
my headshot to reproductions for prints today, they will be should be
ready Tuesday.
Oct 20-04
- !!!BOOKED 3
LEAD ROLES!!! I had an audition yesterday at the NYFA (Film
Academy) and landed the part, I also got pulled into 3 other
auditions while I was there and landed two other parts! It's a unique
situation I guess, because all of the films are for the producers
course work, but It will still be great for my reel. One of the
auditions was pretty intense. I had to break down hysterically laughing
because the character is a psychotic killer who murdered his
girlfriend... all 3 films shoot next week, one right after the other
soo I have a busy schedule next week.
Oct 8-04
- !!!!BOOKED!!!!! The audition i had
on the 2nd
went better then I
thought! I didn't hear anything back until today! But I got the role!
It feels great to have my first indie role! The shoot date is in Dec,
its a supporting role and should take a day and a half of shooting. Oh
also the audition at Hunter college got delayed until wed. (I
added photos from the set of XXX
2
under production shots
in my portfolio)
Oct 8-04
- I have an
audition on monday for a
student film from Hunters College. Its called Never Forever. The
role is a little "rougher" than I am use too. We'll see how it goes.
Oct 7-04
- I had an
audition for a student film "You
Rock My World". It was at NYU.
Oct 2-04
- !!!!BOOKED!!!!! I auditioned for
Moon over New
York today. Its an
indie and the auditions were held at the Tish building (part of NYU)..
The audition went well, we will see if I get a call back.
Sep 25-04
- I had my
first NYC audition today. It
was at NYU and I got it from an online self submission. It was for a
graduate student film. I ran through my sides once with my take on the
character, the director said good and then gave me the imput that the
character doesn;t like to talk, that he keeps things inside
more, that I should take the emotion I was showing outwardly
and put it inside of the guy, so I ran through it again with those
notes. The director asked me some questions about if I could
act and drive, if I had some specific dates open and that was a
wrap! So I think it went well... call backs should be in about a
week, so we will see if I hear anything. Even if I dont it was a
nice mild stone.
Sep 21-04
- The 30th, the
day I move to
Queens seems to be coming at me pretty fast, and I am still trying
to figure out how to come up with the 600 I still owe towards the 1st
and last months rent. Its just so frustrating when payments (for acting
jobs) run into the 90 + days mark. I am waiting on some stuff
thats over 110 days from the date of the job. I understand it takes
time and people pay late and agencies have their process but its just
frustrating when its cruntch time for me. In a couple of months
hopefully it wont be an issue anymore, but right now I am strapped and
it just plain sucks.
- On an upbeat,
I worked this weekend
as an EXTRA on the sequel to XXX. Most of the time I sat around, but I
did get used in the last 30 minutes on sunday. I got two waivers, which
when you ad the 1st I got back on the HBO show the Wire (the episode
aired on sunday nite) thats 3. So I am now eligible to join the union.
However I think I am going to hold out as long as possible before I get
my card. I dont have the cash right now and I want to try and get it
through a principle role if I can..... I need to start packing up my
things in prep for the move... I think I might head out for a run soon.

Some things have been happening over the last week or so.
I'll start at the beginning. First I found a new place to live, its in
Astoria Queens, which is a decent place to live and seems to be popular
with other actors. I've gotta come up with 1st and last months rent
which is never easy on such sort notice but I think I'll get it done.
What kinda makes it stressful is that I have like 1800 dollars floating
around out there in accounts thats due to me from acting or print
modeling work I've done and it just takes FOREVER TO GET. I know as I
make progress in the entertainment industry this will be less of a
problem but right now it makes things tough! Bills for me dont have a
30-90 day waiting period you know? But anyway, I digress. The next
thing thats happened is that I got offered a waiver extra role (1-4
days) on the set of the new XXX movie. I already have on waiver, so If
i get two more that makes me SAG ELIGIBLE. Which is kinda cool that I
can get my card most likely, but I guess I just had this dream of
getting it through a principle role or something... an under 5 .... but
as many people have said it could easily lead to better things and
people take you more seriously when you are union. So I am going ahead
with it, I'm going to do the work and worry about joining afterwards.
The production is in Washington DC and is being shot at a prison which
is kinda cool, its right on the MD side. The time table is being moved
around because of the storm coming up so we will see what dates I
actually work. Hey at least now It might be easier to get extra work on
some soaps which might lead to some under 5 or day player roles!
Alright I gotta get my stuff ready for the trip down to Washington DC.
(even though I heard it was easier to get your Card in 2nd tier markets
its weird that I am going back to DC to become union, I always thought
I'd get it in NYC)
Sep 09-04
- I am back
from LA and just dealing
with some stressful issues. I have to find a new place to live by the
end of the month (which in NYC is no small task) and with that I have
to come up with first and last months rent before Oct 1st, that really
is the stressful part. On an up swing I have my first class with Joanna
Beckson tomorrow for the first time! I am looking forward to my classes
with her, I've started reading the Meisner book and I think I will
really click with this approach to acting. Also I've decived that I am
going to start a small side business building websites for people
(mostly actors) who don't have one but would like a good professional
site. If you want more info visit
my design page.
Aug 25-04
- I had my
interview/meeting/audition
with the personal manager from Satchi management today and although I
was pretty nervous it turned out very well. We decided that I would
freelance with him for a bit and see how things go from there. Which is
an awesome step to make, I think we will work well together so we will
see how it all plays out. I also had a meeting with Joanna Beckson for
acting classes. She teaches the Meisner technique which I have been
interested in for awhile. She only accepts people into her class from
refferals and after an interview and she invited me to join. After
hearing her explain her approach I think the class is a good fit for me
so I am going forward with that as well. The class starts the 13th of
september and meets twice a week for 3 hours. I'm excited about how
things are playing out! So far I think I have made some really strong
progress in the last 3 weeks, its going to be hard to keep up this
pace!
Aug 22-04
- O.k, this
past week has been a slow
one because I had to head down to Washington DC to get some National
Guard training out of the way. But, I did have my CD of headshots
waiting for me when I got back friday morning. After MUCH thought here are the top 13 shots I
like. I guess I need to pick a 2/3rds and a more normal
headshot, then possibly an alternative one.. anyway, tell me what you
think.
Aug 13-04
- I met with
the photographer today (www.trevoroswalt.com)
and I was able to get an apointment on Monday so the shoot is set! I am
excited about getting new headshots so I can start doing some mass
mailings. Also I found I out that I am going to be in LA for 10 or so
days from the 27th to the 8th (just in time to leave the City for the
Convention) and I am going to try and get to some open calls out in LA.
Overall I've just decided for the next couple weeks to focus on getting
my headshots and working on some good monologues for the audition I
have lined up for a personal manager. We will see how it goes.
Aug 11-04
- Well, I've
started my submissions, I
mailed and e-mailed and called and searched online and all the fun
stuff.... So the journey begins. I had my 1st audition today, in
Terrytown, NY. Luckily I still had my car (selling it this weekend) so
I was able to get up there, it was done with Hurricane Productions, for
a "trading spaces" type of show... I went for the role of "mover /
packer" since I have so much experience in that area.
- Also
I saw Boy From Oz tonight
(had to see it before it closed) Hugh is Jackman is amazing and so are
all the characters, it was my first Broadway show.
Aug 4-04
- I got a part
time job last night!
mostly computer and office work, helping out the boss with odds and
ends so thats a relief, between that and occasionally temping I
SHOULD be able to cover all my bills and have some left over to go see
a movie or two :) Today I am just doing some submissions for print
modeling and still getting some things in order. I think tonight I will
go to a free preview of a play down on 8th street. So far the move has
gone great, I have not one thing to complain about, oh well except for
forgeting my computer speakers in DC, and a few other small things. Oh
well. :)
Aug 3-04
- NYC!!!!!, I'm
here guys and gals. I
got in late Saturday night. I am slowly putting my stuff togetherand
getting my room arranged, I got the internert up sooner than I had
expected (i am piggy backing on someones wireless connection) I am
looking for a job, trying to get settled, made an appointment to meet a
new headshot photographer, its all coming together.... I am so lucky I
bought a window unit AC though before I got there, I mean it was INSANE
when I first opened the door (7th floor) I dont know how my
roommate lived without AC! Anyway as you can tell my thoughts
are scattered. I still need to get some stuff done before I
head over to my interview at 7. I will write a more detailed
explantation of my 1st 3 or 4 days either tonight or tomorrow! Thanks
for checking my site!
